In the third quarter of 2023, the top travel and local apps on the Android platform in the United States showcased varying trends in downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top 5 apps: Expedia: Hotels, Flights & Car, Airbnb, Upside: Cash Back - Gas & Food, Booking.com: Hotels & Travel, and Hopper: Hotels, Flights & Cars.

Expedia: Hotels, Flights & Car had a steady stream of weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 78K in mid-July and then experiencing a decline, ending the quarter at around 66K. The app's weekly active users fluctuated slightly but saw an overall increase, growing from 783K to 826K by the end of September.

Airbnb saw its weekly downloads peak at about 72K in mid-July, followed by a gradual decline to roughly 56K by the end of the quarter. Active user numbers decreased from 1.2M at the start of the quarter to about 1M by the end of September.

Upside: Cash Back - Gas & Food had a notable increase in weekly downloads, reaching a high of 72K in mid-July before settling to approximately 64K towards the end of September. The app’s active users also saw an upward trend, growing from 1.1M to 1.3M over the quarter.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel maintained a consistent number of weekly downloads, peaking at around 73K in mid-August and then declining to about 47K by the end of September. Active users, however, showed a downward trend, decreasing from 1.5M to 1.3M over the quarter.

Hopper: Hotels, Flights & Cars experienced a decline in weekly downloads, starting at 89K at the beginning of the quarter and dropping to around 35K by the end of September. Active users mirrored this trend, decreasing from 507K to 380K.
